Meet Some of Our Friends

Okay, we admit it, we like people who like us.  We also really like people who support us and our mission, especially the part about the art and culture of the area.  With that in mind here are some of our favorite artists.  Listing every talented artist from the region is really a website in itself.  We are listing here a few whom we think capture the spirit of the area and can always be counted on to help us out when we call.

Dawn Weimer is a western artist, sculptor, and Fort Morgan native.  Her ongoing support of  the Fort Morgan Museum is greatly appreciated.  The Museum-Library Complex has greatly benefited from her talent.  We have "Annie the Railroad Dog" standing guard outside and "Mother of the Plains" greeting visitors in the main lobby.

Monte White's pieces portray both the reality and romanticism of the ranch life he knows so well, as he and his wife are working ranchers.  We're not sure when he finds time to draw, but are grateful he shares some of the results with us.  Monte's art can be seen at the Loch Vale Gallery.
While at the Loch Vale site be sure to view the art of Karol Mack.  Karol comes from an old Morgan County family, and while she doesn't live in the area anymore, she still supports the region through special shows and other projects.
Pamela Brown, all you have to do is just say her name and it conjures up images of the strength and steadfastness she portrays with simple watercolors and the magic of her brush.  And speaking of magic, her next piece will show the delicacy of a cactus flower.  Whatever she paints is a treat for the rest of us.  Pam doesn't have a website, but be sure to visit her at the Sand Creek Gallery in Akron.

A Few More Things To Do in Northeast Colorado

The Fort Morgan Museum would like you to visit other museums in the region, a great place to start is the CWAM website. CWAM stands for the Colorado Wyoming Association of Museums.  Some of our favorite museums in the area include the Overland Trail Museum in Sterling, the Wyoming State Museum in Cheyenne.
The Pawnee National Grasslands is just north of Fort Morgan.  In fact Fort Morgan is the starting point for the Pawnee Pioneer Parkway that goes through the Grasslands.  The Grasslands is a wonderful multiuse facility that offers camping and some of the best bird watching in the nation.
Do you enjoy fishing and boating along with your camping?  Then Jackson Lake is the place for you.
Is high octane fuel more your style?  Then visit I-76 Speedway. This local track runs 4-6 divisions every Saturday during the summer.

Colorado is a large diverse state with a variety of activities, festivals, and people.  Visit the state tourism site or the official state site to learn more about this interesting state.

A Few Things To Do on Your Way Here
Many of our visitors come here from there.  To find some new things to do on your way from wherever you are to wherever you are going we recommend visiting the ThingsToDo.com website.   This site is choosy about who they feature (yes, we're mentioned), focusing on family friendly places and events.  Who knows, you might even find something new to do in your own neighborhood.

What are you going to do once you get to Colorado? Or on a free weekend if you live in the area?  Check out the Colorado Directory  It lists "725 Places to Stay and Fun Things To Do in Colorado."

And Yet More Friends

The Museum relies heavily upon volunteers to help staff the museum.  We also appreciate the individuals who   guide the museum by sitting on our board.  The following sites are associated with many of these individuals, please visit them and let them know you appreciate the support they give us.
