March 8, 2010 A Public Service Announcement By Community Resource Officer Roger Doll Theft of Property
On March 3rd, police were called to the 900 block of State Street on the report of a theft that occurred at a business located there. Officers spoke with a witness who stated a Hispanic male had come into the building and was acting suspicious. When the male was observed again a few minutes later, he was going through the personal property of some of the other occupants of the building. When confronted, the suspect attempted to flee the business with some of the belongings. A brief struggle occurred when one of the victims attempted to retrieve stolen property the suspect was holding. No injuries were reported and the suspect fled on foot. Witnesses described the suspect as having very short black hair, bushy eyebrows and a lip piercing. He had a thin build and was wearing a dark coat with dark pants and tennis shoes. Officers contacted a possible suspect and are continuing to investigate this case. Anyone with information on this or other crimes is asked to call the Fort Morgan Police Department at 867-5678, call CRIMESTOPPERS at (970) 542-3411, or submit your tip online and remain anonymous. March 1, 2010 A Public Service Announcement By Community Resource Officer Roger Doll Theft from Vehicle
A Fort Morgan resident became the victim of a theft when he left his cellular phone in an unlocked vehicle and within sight of passersby’s. On February 18th, the victim left their new cell phone valued at $400 in a vehicle parked on the street in the 200 block of Ash. Even though they were only gone for approximately forty minutes, when they returned, the phone had been stolen. The cellular phone is described as Black, LG “cookie” brand phone and had been recently purchased. This is a reminder to all residents to always lock their vehicles when they are leaving them unattended and to never leave valuables within view inside of their automobile. Many thefts are a crime of opportunity and can be avoided when alert citizens don’t give criminals the chance to commit a theft. Anyone with information on this or other crimes is asked to call the Fort Morgan Police Department at 867-5678, call CRIMESTOPPERS at (970) 542-3411, or submit your tip online and remain anonymous. Persons giving information that helps solve a crime could receive a cash reward. News Room
